- Our weekly prayer gathering has now been at 4 for several weeks! Praise God! We prayed through Ephesians 3 and hope our prayers will continue to be guided by Jesus, who "always lives to intercede for us," as it says in Hebrews. - October is Minister's Appreciation month. Pastor Tina would love prayer for her husband John and their children Beatrice, Peter, and Teresa to grow in their faith and to see Canaan as their spiritual home. Please also be praying for Pastor Nathaniel, his wife Jen, and their children Theo and Archie as well to thrive and flourish in this season!

- We invite everyone to join our Operation Christmas Child project and bless children around the world with gifts of love! Shoeboxes will be available in the Fellowship Hall. Please fill your box with gifts and return it to the table by 11/15. We encourage you to donate $10 per box online for shipping, which allows you to track where your shoebox is sent. - 2026 CanaanCup Sports Outreach Event: Sat, Oct 10 (Table Tennis: 40players/4 teams); Sun, Oct 11 (Basketball: 28players/4 teams); Sun, Oct 18 (Pickleball: 32players/16 teams); and Sun, Oct 25 (Children Indoor Plays: new date 10/25, registration until 10/22). All food and drinks in the church kitchen refrigerator are for church ministries and fellowship use. To maintain order and avoid shortages, please do not take anything without approval from the ministry team.
Finally -- see below for an invite from Hilal and Fatih, my Muslim friends who visited last Sunday, for a service opportunity this Sunday afternoon in Sunnyvale. This is a natural follow-up activity you can do with your elementary-aged children to serve the local poor, right after last week's message about the rich man and Lazarus!
"We are going to prepare fleece blankets for shelters, hygiene kits for unhoused neighbors, backpacks for school prep at transitional services, pillow cases and bracelets for unhoused youth."
I wish I wasn't away this weekend (LA cousin's wedding), so if any of you can go, please know that you represent our Canaan community! I'll miss you but see you next week!
