Why & How to Pray for Canaan Missionaries?

We must support our missionaries in prayers, because..

(1) They are invading enemy territory - many countries are controlled by Satan.

Pray that souls will be released from Satan's bondage & will put their trust in Christ. Pray that the missionary will recognize the attacks of Satan & use Scriptural weapons in each spiritual battle.

(2) They face all kinds of frustrations - language learning, cultural shock, unfamiliar environment, different customs, strange climate, lack of results.

Pray that they will continue to trust God & be anxious about nothing. In everything, by prayer & petition, with thanksgiving, present their needs to God.

(3) They often face loneliness - in a foreign land, they are surrounded by people of another culture & language. They need to know that they are loved & accepted. Pray that the missionary will experience fellowship with God in new & satisfying ways and at the same time, find accountability groups & develop new friendships.

(4) They must remember their mission - All the children of God must remember that they are here on earth for a special purpose. Their mission is to be servants to all. They are God's channels of blessing. They are to be His instruments.

Pray that they win have the humility of Jesus Christ & learn from His mission, "For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, & to give His life a ransom for many" (Mark 10:45).

(5) They must be filled with the Spirit - It is through the fruit of the Spirit that they shine as living witnesses. Unless they have daily quiet time before the feet of Jesus, all the pressure will result in failure.

Pray that the missionaries will stay spiritually fresh & be filled with the Spirit... and therefore, walk in the Spirit.

(6) They face health problems sometimes - Physical health is so important.

Without good health, they cannot give their best in carrying out the works of

the Lord. Health problems may cause depression or discouragement.

Pray for the health of each missionary. May the Lord keep them all in that condition of health that will best glorify Him.

(7) Their family needs - Pray for the health of missionary children. Pray that both parents will be godly role models & will do all they can to help their children develop godly self-worth. Pray for their schooling & friendship development.

Pray for financial support.
